| 1366895 | 2014-02-05 02:16:00 | Hi all, I'm looking at running 2x R270's from a 750w PSU in Crossfire, at near max, 24/7, with just a SSD on this system. Taking a semi-educated guess, what would you guess the power draw of this system would be (Excluding any monitor), and the cost per-day to run it? Cheers Chill. |

| 1366904 | 2014-02-06 09:57:00 | 2 x sapphire 280X's running at 1050/1500 1.1V draw just under 600W from the wall running 24/7 mining litecoins - measured with a wattmeter - and are averaging 1400KH/s They use roughly 250-270W each and the system uses somewhere between 60-100W on top of the cards. 270's would be cheaper but only hash in the 400-420 KH/s range which is fairly low. Still it may work out due to cheaper running costs. I'd expect 400-450W at the wall or close to it. maybe up to 500W depending on the PSU - makes quite a difference using gold or platinum rated models. this is helpful www.litecoinpool.org I use 20-21c US as a rough equivalent to the 25c a KW/h I pay. Currently running 2 x 280X's, 1 x 7970, a 7950, and a 5870 across 3 PCs for a total of 1500W and 3100 KH/s - at around $70-90 a week after power it's not going to make me rich and with diminishing returns as difficulty goes up it may never pay itself off :) My goal is to break even, hopefully without having to sell the hardware to do it. litecoin.info try this to compare cards, the hash rates, settings and power figures are submitted by users I think but they help a bit. My 7950 never comes close to what the site suggests but my 7970 does. Incidentally I recommend sticking to same generation cards - mixing the 280X's with any of my others causes stability issues and I gave up. My initial plan was to try and get 3 or 4 cards of one system with riser cables but every time I go past 2 I have problems so I've ended up with; 1 new rig with the 280X's - 1400KH/s - 600W (750W Bronze FSP PSU) 1 old itx system with the side off running a single 7970- 730 KH/s - 370W (450W silver CM PSU!) 1 rig built from 2nd hand parts with a 7950 & 5870 - 920 KH/S - 500W (650W gold seasonic) I notice the modern motherboards draw as little as 60W when idle whereas the older AMD x2 rig is over 100W, might have to see what I can disable in the BIOS. If you plan on using a normal PC case you need very good airflow and as much space between cards as you can manage - my 280X's go into the mid 80's in a case and low to mid 70's using a pair of riser cables and an aluminium frame to space them out. |
