| 1366467 | 2014-01-31 00:10:00 | I am using Win7, IE11 & office 2003 and have 4 g of ram and 1.0ghz amd dual core processor. Despite few auto startups, regular cleanouts, updates and lots of security my newish laptop has become VERY slow. (I only use it for emails, internet health, gardening and genealogy research). I have noticed whenever I try to shut down Im told Outlook and Word are still open. They are not! And havent been used in days. But when I check task manager they are running. So are 4 copies of Google Chrome which I dont use and three of internet explorer. Altho I end these processes they reappear. I have tried uninstall Google chrome til Im blue. It keeps reappearing How do I stop these running? |

As for the other issues I'm not sure, outlook may minimise rather than close by default but word doesn't and no clue why you have multiple instances running. Might be worth a scan with MBAM and a decent anti-virus for a start. Booting into safe mode might help with uninstalling stubborn programs. |

I removed AVG when it first got slow but had a real mission to remove all remnants until I found the agv removal tool. Speed improved quite abit but still have problems with outlook and word staying open will try MBam and decrap.. Since avg removal Im using MS Security Essentials, spybot and winpatrol. is that sufficient? |

Reconfig them to NOT load at startup. You also said you had LOTS of security. Too many security apps are known trouble. Especially so if you have more than one anti-virus app installed. You only need one antivirus, and one firewall (if that) at any one time. |
