| 1366459 | 2014-01-30 22:03:00 | Hi. I have just bought and installed the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort keyboard and mouse combo. From the outset, it has worked fine, although the chosen "Browser back" mouse settings (set in the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Centre) only work in IE, not FF. I am using Windows 8.2, and Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Centre v 2.3etc, the latest version available. I installed the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Centre using my old keyboard and mouse, restarted, removed the old keyboard and mouse, and attached the new device. I have tried the wireless station in all of the three USB slots on my laptop as recommended by Microsoft, but the same thing happens all the time - a notification appears, disappears, reappears, constantly, saying USB device not recognised. Bizarre that Windows does not recognise a product made by the same manufacturer, but there you are. I have tried updating the driver using Device Manager, but that doesn't work. No matter how many restarts I try, the fault continues. In Devices and Printers there is an icon for "Microsoft 2.4 GHz Transceiver v8.0" all the time, and it is said to be working properly. When the "USB device not recognised" appears, a second identical icon appears in Devices and Printers, with the heading "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". Why is it always trying to reinstall, when it already seems to be successfully installed? The constant "Device inserted, Device installation failed" chimes were driving me crazy, so I have turned off the sounds for those events. However, despite internet searching I cannot find a solution to the basic problem, and I cannot find a way of switching off the constant error messages popping up on the screen. I notice that some of the people who have posted the same problem have given up and returned their keyboard/mouse to the seller, and that is still an option for me. Can anyone help please, even if it is only to stop the notifications, which are very distracting. BTW, this product does not come with software. |

Dont know if its anything to do with 8.1 but MS changed the hardware requirements for 8.1 compared to 8. The compatibility page looks like its not compatible for the Sculpt series supported-devices (www.microsoft.com) As for stopping the notifications - try this stop-notifications-windows-8-1/ (www.gottabemobile.com) |

| 1366462 | 2014-02-01 00:20:00 | Thanks WT. Given that the mouse and keyboard set are specifically designed and set up to optimise working with W8, I find the whole thing either a mystery or a fraud. However, thank you for answering my question - I have turned off the irritating notifications. Cheers. | John H (8) | ||
