| 1347819 | 2013-07-03 02:21:00 | nz.news.yahoo.com Hello local councils. Did you not learn ANYTHING after the leaky homes debacle Councils are probably liable for of stupidly massive$$$$, after the leaky homes issue , yet carry on as before. Nothing has changed ?? hmmn , remember this sort of thing from last time? "IANZ found evidence consents were being issued that did not meet the requirements of the Building Code or Act." "International Accreditation New Zealand chief executive Llew Richards says the council has failed to audit consents thoroughly and regularly to ensure building standards were being met." And it gets worse "Mayor Bob Parker says his officers will still be able to issue consents despite losing accreditation" Really, you will issue consents that wont be legal or recognized. Do you want to be sued by future blding owners if there are issues ?? Why would Mayor Bob make such a stupid comment? |

| 1347820 | 2013-07-03 02:52:00 | Hello local councils. Did you not learn ANYTHING after the leaky homes debacle Councils are probably liable for of stupidly massive$$$$, after the leaky homes issue , yet carry on as before. Nothing has changed ?? Nothing has changed. What happens is the Council have people doing the inspecting, those people dont do the job correctly and issue a permit anyway. Later on when it all turns to custard, council pay out the home owner even though they admit they didn't do the job right in the first place, ( so its councils fault) then try to go after the builders to recover the costs for their stuff ups. Heres one the government is having a fun time with thats raised its head schools-in-tough-fight-over-leaky-buildings (tvnz.co.nz) |

| 1347821 | 2013-07-03 09:57:00 | The council has people with diplomas checking the diplomas of people who check other pieces of paper. That all works as one might expect, but the buildings and the weather don't take too much notice of paper. What other result should we anticipate when Gov't paper monkeys join the party? More paper? (Preferably perforated and rolled.) |

| 1347823 | 2013-07-04 01:34:00 | hmmn, AK as well it seems I bet the developers were hoping to sneak this one through, doesnt seem the council were going to uphold there own reg's www.stuff.co.nz " Why does council have rules if they're not going to enforce them? " " Auckland Council's Urban Design Panel has praised the proposal for a 12.1 metre tall office block with two terraced houses at the rear despite the fact it doesn't comply with council regulations on 16 counts. " " Developer MNMR Limited, which names Mike Newdick of Turner Hopkins lawyers as a director, says that the proposal " has been designed having regard to its context rather than to the permitted standards of the district plan " . | 1347824 | 2013-07-04 01:42:00 | I would be too quick to blame the CH council for these so called dangerous buildings as this sounds like the building designers are to blame. These clowns should know better. I can blame the cardigan wearing council staff for long drawn out consent times. They have to justify their jobs some how.. | paulw (1826) | ||
