1346948 2013-06-25 23:42:00 For those who have access to technet, if you want to download the server preview its out now. :)

The Server basically has from what I can see everything Windows 8.1 will have along with server functions.

A couple of points - You can now boot directly to the desktop instead of the start/Tile menu:

5081

As for the start button --- if those wanting the old style menu back - Sorry, its a NO GO. Yes the start button is back, but it takes you back to the Tiled Menu.

If you right click the start button you get a couple of options, including shutdown /restart.

The Picture below is from the server version so it will have options the normal home user edition wont:

5082

Tomorrow 27th ( NZ time/Date) 8.1 preview comes out.

I'm sure there is a 3rd party utility...

The preview will be released through the Store as well as an ISO, but I'm not sure if the ISO is a full OS or just the updated bits.

1346955 2013-06-26 10:26:00 The preview will be released through the Store as well as an ISO, but I'm not sure if the ISO is a full OS or just the updated bits. Several places have said the same thing: Available as an update or fresh install ( which is what i'm doing)

1346956 2013-06-26 21:05:00 Further to above -- right at the moment, you can only try the preview if you have windows 8 installed, it will download a small patch, then download the preview.

The ISO's wont be available for a day or so. Unless you have a TechNet or MSDN Subscription, then they are there right now, along with different product keys.

Theres two versions the x64 = 3580 MB & x86 = 2660 MB
