1346978 2013-07-01 01:03:00 Another note: the charms are now active on whatever app you last interacted with when multiple apps are open. pcuser42 (130)

It'll be available through the Store come release. :)

1346982 2013-07-01 22:40:00 It may not if people have to pay for it Agent_24 (57)
1346983 2013-07-01 22:43:00 It's a free update - which makes sense, as it's essentially a service pack. pcuser42 (130)

I thought they were going to charge for it - was that a rumour or did they change their minds?

Must have been a rumour, I can't recall Microsoft ever officially saying it was a paid update.

1346986 2013-07-02 01:43:00 Windows 8.1 will be a Free update as long as you have Windows 8 already.

If you dont have Windows 8 already you have to purchase it (8.1) should you want it.

1346987 2013-07-02 07:33:00 I see where Microsoft are coming from as I believe many including myself will agree the start menu has become rather antiquated by today's standards and is well overdue for a replacement. However I personally feel that the sharp angeled 'solution' dubbed metro is quite ugly, brutish and comes with limited power user functionality. I'd have rather they'd gone with something closer resembling that of the Ubuntu unity Launcher. J_Joyce (6569)
