1347289 2013-06-30 07:14:00 Noting the site has been live for 5 days we have sold nearly $3000 worth of stock in that time. It's been a very busy week. We can provide screw E27 and bayonet B22. We also have adapters available for many more sizes. We are also about to get T5, T8, and T12 tubes in. 12-25cm Downlight fittings will be available soon. And strip lighting for bar, restaurants etc will also be available. W are getting an RGB+W which is really bright, but still gives you colour functionality, and a 100W equivalent will very soon be here. stevo018 (17117)
1347290 2013-06-30 20:48:00 I'm actually quite surprised / impressed by how affordable it is too.

I'm horrified how expensive that is.
Just so you can play pretty colours.

1347291 2013-06-30 21:07:00 These light bulbs are less expensive in the long term, but they pay them selves off and become substantially cheaper in the long run. Lets take away the fact that you can control them at all shall we, and do the math. $34 gets you an LED 7.5W bulb that uses 80% less power than a traditional bulb, and even less power than a "Power Saver" bulb. It last 50x longer than a traditional bulb, and 10x longer than a power saver. (that's 5 years, or 50,000 hrs). By the time you are replacing your power saver bulb for the 5th time, your LED is just slipping below 80% efficiency.

This is the most efficient, cost effective way of lighting your home or business. Simple. Do the math. I appreciate your comment on this thread, but before you sound so confident in your view on something, it would pay to do the homework, buddy. The fact that you can 'play with the pretty colours', dim them, put on disco mode, not get out of bed to turn off the lights down stairs.... All that is just a bonus.

Peace

Nah compared to other LED lights, those are still quite cost competitive. LED's Lightbulbs aren't like traditional energy saver ones that take a minute to "warm up" and go to full brightness, they're on straight away at full brightness, but without the large cost of a traditional lightbulb.

That and I'd take a cool white LED light over a tungsten bulb any day! So much easier on the eyes...

1347294 2013-07-01 00:14:00 It's probably also worth mentioning that the Philips Hue system gets a mention in the final NZ PCW mag. The starter pack for that is NZD$279 which is personally too high to dabble with, though they include 3x bulbs. An additional bulb for the Philips Hue system will set you back NZD$80.
So yeah, cost-competitive for sure!!

1347297 2013-07-01 03:46:00 So this is basically a cheaper version of the Hue/same concept as the Hue? When I saw the Hue, I was very keen to try it out, but it was too dear. This is much more realistically priced, even cheaper than I would expect.

Might have to give a few a try. It's a very cool idea.

1347298 2013-07-01 04:32:00 Yeah pretty much, same deal as the Hue... Just the Hue gives you one extra bulb in its starter pack but costs over double...

Thinking of trying to get out that way later in the week to see it in person! I'm very interested.
