1346969 2013-06-28 08:22:00 Just to be clear, how many prefer Win 8.? Well put it this way - I deal with everything from XP - W8 almost every day. After getting used to W8 and use it how its actually meant to be used, all previous versions seem so antiquated and slow in doing tasks.

Many people hate the "start / Tiled menu" BUT when setup so it has the main programs you may use on a regular basis, its easy as, and definatly quicker/easier to locate programs you use ( as compared to the old start menu). I've had people who never used W8 before comment how easy it really is once setup. Of course there are still shortcuts on the desktop sometimes.

8.1 does make things a bit more "old school" as booting to the desktop if you want, but it depends on how you use your system will depend on how you set things up.

Name brand computers are whats causing so many problems, esp with all the CRAP they have on the start page. First thing I do is remove 99% of it - then start putting in whats actually used.

64-bit, but I'd probably be better off waiting until Monday and leaving my tablet to download the ISO during my exam :p

1346977 2013-07-01 01:01:00 I've downloaded it and installed it in a separate partition - without a Microsoft account. I was never that fussed about Win8, but I think 8.1 is a definite improvement. I don't have a touch screen so I'm not seeing all the benefits, but I've been helping my neighbour who has Win8 on a touchy laptop, and I must say I have warmed to it somewhat. Tony (4941)
