1348170 2013-07-07 08:20:00 He could do it. If he bought shares in Xero a whee while back... ^^

It is now $18.34 a Share, up from $5.10 a year ago, and 6 months ago it would have been: $7.60, so if he had brought them on the 01/01/2013, and sold them now he'd be making around 200% return (Maybe more).

Ahh, I wish I had money then...
Instead I now own part of an SOE. >_<

Slightly off-topic; I don't understand why Xero shares are so high - considering that they have never made a profit.

Market Speculation. They'll lose their money. (Investors) Perhaps.

Indeed, it's speculation. Whether it's foolish speculation or not is a debatable topic. The market basically believes that they will continue to grow their customer base (which has been about doubling each year, along with revenue) rapidly, and it will at some point overtake their expenses, which are also rapidly increasing as they take on staff.

If they capture the same share of the Aus / UK / US markets that they have in New Zealand, they'll make a fortune and the current share price will look cheap. On the other hand, if they are overtaken by a competitor, or some other change occurs that stunts their growth, they might end up making a profit that is pretty small and doesn't come close to justifying the current price.

It's a fascinating gamble, really.

1348176 2013-07-08 04:57:00 Give it to finance company, that gives a 300% return . Used to be a few of those around.
Was something similar advertised on Radio Live not that long ago. (Im not joking people were stupid enough to invest & then complain when the company disappeared, radio live were greedy enough to run the ads)

Or I can sell him some shares in the Ak harbour Bridge. He can then set up his own toll gate & the money will pour in.
