1347173 2013-06-28 05:27:00 Talked about it with lots of my contemporaries and ALL have the same issue. My prostate tests are fine (nurse said my PSA test result was the lowest she had ever seen), so it isn't that in my case.

I think it is a really bad idea to stop fluid intake during the day - dehydration is not a good idea, and the headaches are a killer. I don't have alcohol after 7pm at the latest, and one miserable small cup of caffeine free tea between 7 and 8. Actually a beer before dinner seems to be a good thing - it sets the waterworks off before you go to bed because it is a diuretic, and it seems to clear the pipes before bed. Getting up once a night isn't too bad.

Recent research has shown that the idea of sleeping for 8 hours was really only invented in the 19thC. Until then people tended to sleep for four hours, and then get up and do one or more of: have something to eat, talk, take a leak, meet up with the neighbours, have a bit of nooky. Then back to the land of nod for the rest of the night. The problem is with our expectations rather than a bodily need for a straight 8 hours sleep.

What's "a bit of nooky" John?
