1479053	2021-08-01 22:50:00	We are not watching the Olympics, just the highlights on the news . We went away in our motorhome for the past week . We have a recorder and watched a few programmes in the evening that we had recorded previously . Much more interesting . Also watched the occasional show on Prime . We are not completely disinterested . We follow our athletes on the news but as for watching for hours we just could not be bothered . We wonder why they didn’t put the Olympics on Duke . There are not too many programmes there that many people would miss, unlike TV1 who broadcast a number of popular shows . But we do not depend entirely on TV for our entertainment . We listen to the radio, read a book, surf the net, etc . What about you? Do you watch the Olympics or are you the same as us and just watch the highlights?	Roscoe (6288)
1479054	2021-08-01 23:03:00	We're watching the Olympics. This is one time I'm glad we have Sky as I couldn't stand the TVNZ version. Main reason we're watching it as it's in a good time zone. Paris 2024 may not be so good in that aspect.	paulw (1826)

1479056	2021-08-01 23:23:00	havnt watched any, have zero interest . I used to be interested Olympics have jumped the shark . Too many ~sports~ that dont belong . eg skateboarding , rugby , cycling . Too many sports where the very best athletes dont even bother entering : eg basketball Too many sports . Whats next chess ? So get back to basics . If its a team sport : ban it . If it relies only equipment that isnt 100% standardized : ban it . Being able to spend more to get an equipment advantage isnt what we want to see . back to basic sports , track & feild, gymnastics, swimming/diving . Dont add more sports without a damn good reason . Dont dilute it with too many "sports" . Dont have sports where the best dont want to come . And dont allow transgender's to enter Womens competitions . Just no . For obvious reasons .	1101 (13337)

Letting chess be in the Olympics opens the door to other sports like Draughts, Ludo, tiddley winks, marbles et al. Like paulw said, at least Sky let's you pick out the best to view. Ken	kenj (9738)

What was once clearly female or male isn't so clear cut these days (forgive the circumcision gag) Which begs the point, are the Olympics/Commonwealth/sports poutdated now, focussing on gender and testosterone rather than something else like weight/height? After all, some women produce more testosteron than "men" Unfortunately there are many that will never even consider this for various reasons. We'll never be able to change their minds. Just different planes of thought. Fortunately, they will eventually become a smaller and smaller minority opinion and eventually die out. Maybe with a few stragglers but still.
