Ken Reep what you sow I guess . Once the spending & handouts are established , its politically very hard to stop them . And then the see saw effect of reversing previous Govt policies when getting into power . We could have had 'Kiwisaver' 50 years ago (we sort of did ) , that could have made a big difference . Its also local councils. They literally borrow & spend untill they can borrow no more. No thought to how debt is going to be paid back . One Ak mayor took steps to try & bring spending under control , he was opposed every step of the way & voted out . So now Ak Council debt is out of control . |
