257224 2004-07-30 11:36:00 We have:

Agnogenic

Of unknown cause.

Pretty much sums it all up!

Cheers

Personally, I'm more into agnoiology: The study of ignorance!
It's the sort of thing you get in the mirror every morning. :p

You could be right there Andy, though things have been a little better of late.

257228 2004-08-01 07:46:00 I may not be able to pronounce it, but my XP registry seems to have been able to practise Agnogeniyplasty since a few seconds after it's birth.
Truly following in the footsteps of it's antecedents.
I think it may have affected the operator as well as the OS.

257229 2004-08-01 08:54:00 LOL R2,

but when it comes down to most computer probs, a lot of it is operator error, or lack of knowledge which cause's the roll on effect does it not?

but to err is human i think is it not?

surely it is not strictly OS restricted, but the whole system, box and all would it not?
and then the operator finds there is a little irritating prob they cannot pin point or fix satisfactly......... sort of like your word BT ...of unknown cause wouldnt you say?

and some might say it was not there fault when it possibly was?
but that is life isnt it?

passing the buck?

257230 2004-08-02 00:13:00 a recent discussion on another forum on the issue of hardware problems indicated a previously undefined category of computer problems-those referred to as PEBKAC errors (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair):^O

that's my 2 cents worth (to quote Kent Brockman, who disturbingly seems to resemble Paul Holmes more every time I see him)(but that's a whole other thread in the making) :D

cheers

257231 2004-08-02 00:47:00 Hmmm - maybe there's a nut loose on the keyboard? :-)
Can't be the OS now - I've just put in Mandrake 10, and I like it. It appears to be able to do downloads (using Firefox and Woosh) at a quite surprising rate. Way above what Woosh claimed in the commercials, so that is a bonus too - whatever takes the credit for it..
