256656 2004-07-30 11:22:00 If you want it only to edit photos, why bother there is better and cheaper out there. One I recommend is Picture Window obtainable from www.dl-c.com. PW is created by the guy who developed Lotus 1-2-3
specifically as a photo editor and unlike others is not a modified graphics package.
It's hard to know where to stop in singing its praises: a clean and consistent user interface, fast image processing, exceptional documentation, 48 bit image support, lower cost upgrade path, It's very satisfying to have one high-quality, well-integrated tool that serves my photographic needs. There's a 30 day trial download available and to purchase costs $50 to $150 NZ depending on options chosen.

Not a bad little app,but to limited for the price(i wouldn't pay for it),and nearly too limited to be of any use outside of....um...a bit of color balancing,Have a look at FXFoto, its along the same lines but far superior and its free.

256658 2004-07-30 14:20:00 I actually found a version of photoshop on the net for $36!

All legit and everything. It's a well known site. However they are in america and to fedex it over (no other shippers are available) it cost in excess of $200!

Find and download "the gimp" sherilee... or get it off a pc mag cover cd. I think pc authority have it on every CD.

The gimp is a free picture editor that does pretty much everything that photoshop does. However going from photoshop to the gimp is a little confusing so start on the gimp, save yourself $$$, support the free software world and you'll be sweet.

What's the legal point of view on this:

Install Photoshop trial.
Image/Ghost partition with OS and Program on it.
Do some fantastic graphics work.
After 30 days restore the image.
Do some more fantastic graphics work.

256663 2004-07-30 20:51:00 Thanks for all the input.
Well got up this morning in anticipation - just like Christmas LOL

Installed it and am playing with it - it works and it saves but geez it looks complicated guess I'll play with the box.

No really it does look complex all I wanted was a user friendly app.

However did discover a marvellous Screen Capture. "Any Capture" - now that is user friendly.

256664 2004-07-30 22:11:00 How old is the $36 version? Certainly no recent version going for $36 is legit. The supplier probably claims to be providing a "backup" to your original legit copy so it's up to you to find a serial.
Fedex Intl. Priority should be around $30 US.
Photoshop Elements 2.0 can be bought here for $139-$159
