256671 2004-07-30 08:20:00 i just recently reinstalled my soundblaster live into my system, im pretty sure it is just a generic soundblaster live (thats all it says on it), but when i go to install any creative drivers for it, it says "cannot find soundblaster card" despite the fact that the windows device manager shows it under audio devices lagbort (5041)
256672 2004-07-30 08:55:00 I have had the same problem with my soundcard
(though mine is a C-Media)

How are you trying to install the card?

256673 2004-07-30 09:03:00 i insert it in the pci slot, boot up into bios, disable the onboard sound, boot into windows, uninstall ac97 drivers, then try to install creative drivers lagbort (5041)
256674 2004-07-30 09:05:00 Sorry, should have said "how are you trying to install the drivers"

I mean, are you using creative's own install program??

256675 2004-07-30 09:08:00 Uninstall the AC'97 drivers first then shut down the system and insert the card, then power up and install drivers. From what you have said though it's already picked up the soundcard though? If you're running WinXP, it should have picked up the soundcard.

Try running an audio cd or an mp3 file to see if sound comes out, if so, then you don't need the Creative CD. If you want the Creative Media Player (or whatever they call the thing), use WinAmp instead - http://www.winamp.com

Hope this helps you out.

256677 2004-07-30 09:10:00 no sound comes out, but when i tell windows to install drivers automatically it says it cant find the right drivers lagbort (5041)
256678 2004-07-30 09:11:00 Try downloading the latest drivers off Creative's site... wintertide (1306)
256679 2004-07-30 09:13:00 yea, the auto-install for mine always said i didnt have a C-media chip - Maybe download some newer (or older) drivers from creative (or driverguide) agent_24 (4330)
