257055 2004-07-31 23:51:00 Any ideas please. I've resubscribed to DSL and using a Nokia M1122 (which has worked fine in the past). I have no connectivity; yet I have a PPP layer from telecon, and a DSL link. I can bowse to the router, and see my internal network and I have an IP address assigned from the ISP, but I can't surf -It is like the bridge isn't configured correctly between the internal network and DSL. I have tried the manuals online with no sucess also.
HELP please, I'm getting tired dealing with monkey's who know nothing and more insulting think I know nothing either.
Also, don't bother to try Nokia for tech help, their 0800 number palms you off to a 3rd party 0900 number which gives number unobtainable.....

257056 2004-08-01 01:14:00 Same thing has happened to me in the past. You have to try resetting the router completely.

There should be a button somewhere to reset the thing back to factory settings if held down for 5 secs.

257057 2004-08-01 07:42:00 Check in the startup configuration that there is an entry for:
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 vcc1
As you appear to have met all the other criteria for a connection it sounds like you don't have a route in there.

What do the router statistics say?

I can probably help you figure this out as I'm a Tcom tech and have done jetstream installs.....

Network connection should be set to VCC1
PPP authentication method should be PAP

PPP user name should be yourusername@adsl.ihug.co.nz or whatever ISP you are using or @xadsl for XTRA

other than that your internet options should be set to Never dial a Connection
your lan settings should have use auto configeration script ticked and the router address should be added as the default address.

Check and change those as required, save the router configeration and restart it and ditto to the pc.

My newwork connection is VCC1, I do have a PPP connection, using PAP and the user name is xxxxx.xadsl@xtra.co.nz. I have an IP assigned by the ISP. Have tried the jetstream games user logon also with no luck, so either my router is stuffed or there may be a problem with the session layer

I can ping the internal address okay 192.168.1.1, but not the external address to the DSL which I'm guessing is 192.168.1.255.

257063 2004-08-03 00:35:00 Hi,it sounds to me as though Telecom have not set up your connection properly.They may not have set up your PVC's in the Alcatel,which will give you dsl but no connectivity.Try your ISP again and ask if they will reset up your whole connection.As you are with Xtra,the Xtra adsl help desk is the same as the old Telecom adsl helpdesk.Might be worth a try.

I worked with someone at Telecom who knows their stuff; he has mapped and connected to the RAN off my port, using my account which works fine .

What it looks like is a DNS problem; I can ping and trace route to IP addresses (using UTP), but still can't surf, ping or tracert (using TCP / IP for DNS lookup), for example when I enter the IP adress of a web site it loads, but when I enter the URL I get no response and the browser times out .

I have 3 machines with the same problem 2003 Server, XP and as a test I used a clean Win ME machine that I had just installed the OS on, all with the same result, so the problem must be with the M1122 itself, unless their is something in the network between the RAN and DSLAM ports in the local exchange (but one would assume the Telecom contractor who installed it has tested the troughput, which I've been assured it has been 3 times) .

Also I retract my comment about Nokia's 3rd party help desk; it does work - Telecom had kindly put (or left) an 0900 block on my phone line when they installed it .
