but everytime i go to see what the date is, in winXp, the tooltip(that shows the day and date) is covered up by the taskbar,
if i move the courser up enough the tooltip is high enough so that i can see it all.
basicly if getting annoyed with it
how can i fix this

257000 2004-07-31 11:23:00 This issue has been discussed before on PF1 involving XP and tooltips/balloon windows displaying partially hidden behind the taskbar instead of above/on top. I don't recall there being a solution for this. I know one theory was the CPU was often noted to be busy with something else when the tooltips/balloon windows often displayed half hidden (other times it would display normally).

Be interesting to see if there are fresh ideas/solutions for this issue.

257001 2004-07-31 16:10:00 A simple way out is to try T-Clock (www.rcis.co.za) which shows the date in your choice of format and colour all the time. It's fairly small, unobtrusive and bug-free. Price is good too :)

257002 2004-07-31 17:18:00 I recommend Chameleon Clock. The free version offers a lot of options, re display mode alarms, sounds and calendar. Very trouble free and always on top. It sits in the system tray, or anywhere else you like. Vince

257003 2004-07-31 21:36:00 Try these: Right click on the task bar and make sure "Lock the Task Bar" and "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" boxes are ticked if they are untick them and try and see if that fixes it.
Also see if active desktop is activated by right clicking on your desktop and clicking desktop then customize desktop then web and untick the boxes in there and see if that helps.

257004 2006-03-19 04:39:00 Jonhboy - thanks for the tips but nothing seemed to work.
As for suggestions on switching to other clocks etc, thats not really helpfull as all my system tray icons are affected by this.

Has anyone else run across a way of fixing this?

Rod.

257005 2006-04-21 15:05:00 This problem is caused by a bug in Windows that causes the taskbar tool-tips to lose their "topmost" window style and be covered up by the taskbar.

Check out this web site for more information and a fix:
www.acquaviva.us

Tool Tip Manager was written specifically to fix this annoying problem by processing taskbar window messages and resetting the "topmost" window style for tool-tips as needed, automatically.
