Ive just compiled the latest development release of KDE (3.3.0_beta2) and really like it.

However, I noticed immediately that the fonts were butt ugly and looked like they could do with a Makeover. I checked my settings in Firefox and it was fine, truetype and anti-aliasing enabled, but they were still disgusting!

I went into the Control-Center (kcontrol)
--> Fonts
Tick "Use Anti-Aliasing for Fonts"

My fonts default to Helvetica (10 & 12pt) for most of it. Restarted Firefox and it was much more visually appealing!

I can really sypathize when you say you were put off, because you are totally right in saying that and I fully agree - I just dont put up with it ;-)

256839 2004-07-31 03:46:00 Just thought I'd post a Before and After shot - Because the changes only take effect on newly opened applications, you'll see from the screenie below that Konsole & Firefox look nice - but Gaim looks butt ugly:
