| 256986 | 2004-08-01 00:05:00 | Right, I just retried mandrake - it actualled installed some packages, but some critical ones had unkown errors. Maybe it's the disk... Moving on.... |

| 256987 | 2004-08-01 01:33:00 | My questioning is the older hardware which Mandrake will not be compiled for (i686 IIRC) so something like Vector or Gentoo dude...... | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||

| 256989 | 2004-08-01 01:47:00 | MD 9.2 installed fine on my P200mmx chill. The DSE one. Just didn't like setting up the legacy soundcard so Knoppix is on the beast. Debian all the way I say ;). | mark.p (383) | ||
| 256990 | 2004-08-01 04:02:00 | Well, in the end I had to go for Damn Small Linux, cause it was so small! You see i have this one CD R left, and it has a big scratch at about the 150MB mark - so i had to burn DSL, which was like 50 MB. Anywho - it's installed fine and working on the better of the two computers. Well, it's not exactly working. It has problems pinging other computers, although it's a brand new network card, it's been recognised, set up, and kinda dandy. Infact, it's ping pattern is very wierd! For example, in pinging my server, i got the following response times (in this order): 1001 ms 1760 ms 0.5 ms 1.9 ms 0.5 ms 760 ms 2.9 ms So i'm thinking "Um...." Any ideas on this? Then there's the other computer... It won't boot from a CD, despite the two CD Drives I've tried, and in MSDOS the c: drive is apparently an invalid drive specification. Hmmmm... Any ideas on that? Sorry about going off topic :D |
