256992 2004-07-31 08:37:00 My antivirus software (AVG) has removed a trojan named Revop.C from my XP system and according to my regular daily AVG scan (with current virus profile update) it now appears to be clear (no viruses present). However I keep getting this message from the resident shield:

Trojan horse Revop.C is found in file

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{CA8519B9-D1FF-486B-9A0E-C2C6192943DA}-\RP225\A0034408.exe.

I assume that this means the trojan has been stored in the XP system-restore archive. I also asume that this means that should I restore to that point, the virus will be reintroduced to my computer system files.

I'd be grtateful of someone could advise me how to deal with this.

Is it possible to delete the file which is named above. If so, how? I can't locate the file during a file search.

Many thanks in anticipation.

256994 2004-07-31 08:50:00 Please could you advise me how to do this? I can't find any help on my computer about "clearing" restore points, only creating them.
Thanks

256995 2004-07-31 08:55:00 right click the My computer icon on your desktop and select properties, then hit the system restore tab and turn it off for all drives, this will clear all your system restore points, then reboot and go back and switch it back on.

If your the concerned type it may pay to backup your needed files before messing with stuff.

and this is presuming your using XP,winME is done differently.
