256909 2004-07-31 07:50:00 greetings all. please can somebody help ?
having major problems with copying cd's-I thought at first it was the Cd's I was using, however, after toasting 10 of them in a row , and then taking them back to the red shed and getting refunded for what appeared to be defective cd's, the ones I got to replace them are still giving the same issues, which leads me to think the CD-RW may be at
fault. using Sonic Record Now! to copy cd's -this has worked perfectly fine
before, but now does not complete the burn and spits out the CD-when I looked at the "advanced" explanation for the unsuccessful burn, there was reference made to some dll files-do I have a registry issue that may be causing unsuccessful burns? (I have recently run a registry clean program, that may have fiddled with some dlls). can registry issues lead to such problems? Apologies for lack of clear details-a combo of lack of sleep, household pressures, the fact that dinner is waiting for me as i type, and many other factors. I promise I'll provide more specific detail if required

cheers

256910 2004-07-31 08:27:00 further details-the burn process results in the display of a dialogue box with the following details displayed:

Sense: 03 ASC: 51 ASCQ: 00 (Command 00)
-------------------------------------------------------
px.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxdrv.dll: 1.0.47.0
pxmas.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxwave.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3

(this is the registry reference I talked about earlier)
system details-Windows XP, Celeron 2.4, CD-RW Sony CRX-216E
obviously I could be totally off track here, but until I get some help, I'm in the dark-please advise !!! ?:|

cheers

256913 2004-07-31 20:46:00 If you have XP try going back to a restore point, before the registry clean-up. Or the registry clean program should have a Go Back and Restore option. Also you could try quitting all other running programs especially antivirus - perhaps something is interfering. But it may be that those dll's are missing or corrupted; try a Search for them to see if they are still on the HD. By the way, what main chip and RAM do you have on your PC? Steve_L (763)
256914 2004-07-31 21:21:00 You could try going to:-
www.dynamiclink.nl
and download the dll files you need.
Ypu will need to figure out where to put them though. Normally c:\windows\system32 I should think.

I don't have any of those files stored on my computer.

256915 2004-08-01 01:41:00 have tried restore points on both registry cleaners that I used-made no difference-also tried to "system restore" XP to point prior to running reg cleans, but didn't work either. have also uninstalled and reinstalled burning program AND CD-RW drivers, to no avail. to answer yr other question, running a celeron 2.4 with 256Mb RAM (yeah I know I should go up to 512, but being a poor and impoverished student I can't afford that at the moment lol). Have also tried a different burner program (AShampoo Cd recording suite) and that gave same results, which leads me to suspect, agian, the burner itself of being at fault. Have also had occasional, but seeming to become more common, issues with CD-RW not even recognising that there is a CD loaded-is this perhaps symptomatic of same root issue? Getting real confused now, but found some pages online that I will get back to when time permits-these appear that they could possibly be of help, but was too tired to really take them in when I first saw them last night. Will keep battling on,

cheers

256916 2004-08-01 03:55:00 The fact that sometimes doesn't recognise that there is a disk present might indicate the drive is dying.

Rather than getting a stack of useless polycarbonate washers, I would invest in a RW disk to test with. Only when you manage to make a readable RW disk start using real CD-R disks again. :D
