We can play 5 games at once and have two nights to play the whole thing. ???? Its 23 years since I did any serious math, but I know there must be a way to do this! I have Excel 2002 but not he first notion how to set the formulas. I'm foxed but I want to learn. Busy Mum. |

| 257544 | 2004-08-02 06:31:00 | Hello and welcome to Press F1! From your question I presume you want to construct a round robin draw for a competition involving 10 teams. Rather than use Excel, the way to construct the draw is to write the numbers 1 to 10 in two columns like this : 1 2 10 3 9 4 8 5 7 6 This is the first draw - team 1 plays 2 and so forth. Anchor the number 1 and rotate all of the other numbers one position clockwise such that it now looks like this : 1 10 9 2 8 3 7 4 6 5 Team one next plays team 10 and so forth. Keep doing this until you get back to where you started. This way each team plays eachother once only and if you are running 5 games at once then the entire round robin can be completed in 9 sessions. Hope this helps! |

So, 1/1 1/2 1/3 1/4 1/5 1/6 1/7 1/8 1/9 1/10 2/3 2/4 2/5 2/6 2/7 2/8 2/9 3/4 3/5 3/6 3/7 3/8 3/9 3/10 4/5 4/6 4/7 4/8 4/9 4/10 5/6 5/7 5/8 5/9 6/7 6/8 6/9 6/10 7/8 7/9 7/10 8/9 8/10 9/10 There should be 45 matches there. You said you can have 5 each time, so you will need 9 different session or timeslots. How many rounds (or sessions) can you have on each night? |
