| 257415 | 2004-08-02 03:58:00 | I have tryed linux a few times... but i cant really get my head around it... I love the concept of open source... but i havent found it user frendly... More spacificly... the modem... I have had mandrake and redhat both installed before... but with no internet... its kinda useless... Still havent figured out how to install modem drivers... but hay... At home i have my pc... gave one to the misses... and one to the flatmate... and one running as a gateway... just running ICS and a firewall... So i just told linux (mandrake 9.1) to use the LAN and the gateway... and what do ya know... im here... SWEET... Know that im here... i might just move to a better puter... this is on a C300 with 64 Megs... so i am feeling it... but hey... im here... i feel this is the start of many things to come... SWEET... |

| 257417 | 2004-08-02 04:43:00 | I found a book in our local library ( Manukau ) with three installation disks for Redhat Linux. Decided to try in my older computer and seems to work fine in the GUI mode. Have not really got into it yet in the text mode and this computer only 235mhz cpu so finding it a bit slow in comparison with 2.8 ghz in newer computer. Computers are fun and I intend to have just that. Cheers............heaton |
