| 257244 | 2004-08-01 11:40:00 | As a courtesy to those who were kind enough to answer my query about WinXP not detecting the new hardware, I felt I should report what the outcome was, in case it helps some-one else. I thought I had read all the rules when I started with XP but apparently not! The guru tested the unit for me and found it to be working fine. However, when, in answer to his question, I told him that I had switched the HDD on and then hot-plugged it into the USB, he suggested that I reverse those two operations. Lo and behold, it worked. He says on some installations it doesn't matter but sometimes it does. |
