257486 2004-08-04 03:59:00 I'll try, if you tell me whether you have ME or XP :D Pheonix (280)
257487 2004-08-04 04:05:00 Also, why I have your attention , also utilise Ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) which cleans out your temp folder and IE cache. The only thing to change from default install, is to tick the box " Delete index.dat files".
This can quite often speed up things as well.

The Contents IE5 is Internet Explorer's cache which saves pages opened from the internet onto your hard drive for faster browsing. The size of the cache is determined in IE's Tools, Internet Options, Settings, Amount of disk space to use. A setting of 50MB would be sufficient.
As mentioned previously you need to run a cleaner to clear out temporary files and internet cache, etc. CCleaner as recommended would be a good choice. After CCleaner use Stinger and AVG again.

The restore has got me bugged though. Please follow the instrctions to ensure Restore is off.........
To disable/enable Windows Me System Restore

1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
Note: If the System icon is not visible, click "View all Control Panel options" to display it.
3. On the Performance tab click File System.
4. Click the Troubleshooting tab and TICK the box "Disable System Restore".
5. Click OK.

Turn restore back on by using the above procedure, but UNtick the box.

257491 2004-08-04 22:12:00 Thats exactly how I disabled it - but it didn't take any notice.
And I've tried turned it back on - then off - then scanning - then rebooting - then back on - but the trojans are still there.
Ran Ccleaner last night and it came up with a few suspect files which I removed - but there were two at the end which there wasn't an option of what to do with them.
IE6 was playing up big time last night and wouldn't connect to any sites - but this morning it did so I left it to download Stinger and all the updates that were available from MS.
Thank you guys for your help - will let you know how I get on.

Cheers
