"image_001.psd"
"image_002.psd"
etc.
Or if it is the same image you are editing different ways and saving as a seperate file each time, you dont have to do this. In photoshop when you are working with psd files you can have multiple layers so each change is on a seperate layer, and you save it as one file.
Hard to explain but if you had a photo of a house saved as psd, you could create a new layer and paint it a different color, you would then have two different images stored as layers in the psd file.

Remember that libraries aren't just book museums - their staff these days are often competent Information Professionals (eg my missus :D) who can direct you to many resources, including printed stuff to borrow instead of buy

257443 2004-08-03 06:45:00 Hi Rockwood,

I retouched the photo for Greg S that he was talking about.

I use Corel rather than Photoshop so may not be able to help you too much on how to use Photoshop side of it.

I am happy to have a go at 'tidying up' your photo/s if you want to e-mail them to me, you never know, we may be able to improve them :-)

Let me know if this is an option

my e-mail is wolfe2nz@hotmail.com

I totally agree Murray. And I'm still astounded by the work he did gratis for me.

Joe - don't forget my offer - if you ever want an online portfolio hosted of some of your work, no charge, I'm always here.

You did a lovely job on Greg's grandmother & it's great to see you offering to help again.

257447 2004-08-03 21:27:00 I would like to ask a question regarding photo retouching, too, "rockwood", as photography is a hobby of mine. :D

Will we be able to get a reasonable photo at the end of the retouching process or will we only get, at best, moderate results? It's worth trying, just for the learning curve experience and for our grey matter to improve (or at least hang in with us). ?:|

But....at the end of it, can we achieve results similar to the stunning example put up by Greg S and done for him by joe90ak??? I nearly fell off my swivel chair when PJ said "Look at this thread". B-) Great work!!

Maryanne.

Too right! Remember... Joe did my picture within just a couple of hours - if he'd been doing a professional job for a paying customer I bet the result would've been even better!

257449 2004-08-04 01:11:00 Maryanne, just don't let PJ get too close to the PC when retouching the photo.
Good results will then be guaranteed.

The beauty of working in a digital medium is that you can try and try again,if you don't get the desired results then just take a step back and try another path .

I suggest you have a go,its an enjoyable task,The trick is to know the tools of your photo editing program and to work with the photo blown up to huge dimensions .

Plus there are hundreds of how-to sites on the net, although i feel the PhotoShop 7 WOW Book was one of the better purchases i've made .
