258024	2004-08-04 03:38:00	I got a new system recently, but I have one problem, it will only let me play a game if it is pirated! Every time I try to play a non-pirated game it says please insert disk 1, and of course I already have, but it wont detect it. this is with all non pirated games, rainbow six, tomb raider, and most recent Doom 3. But when I play the pirated versions they run fine... helpppp please I dont wanna play pirate games!!! could it be the drivers for my cd drive? I have an MSI DVD/CDRW combo but i never got drivers with it, i guess it uses windows own... could this be the problem, or is my pc just a pirate or something?	Malvado (5923)
258025	2004-08-04 03:43:00	Okay, a few things here: Firstly - The topic dude..... Not a good one..... Second - CD Drives dont have drivers - It'll be an issue with the Copy Protection on all the Disc's. Third - Not a good idea giving off a list of all the appz/gamez you've pirated. Bruce has your email and Im sure he could do with some $$ for dobbing you in. Anyways, enough of that: Try going to alcohol-soft.com and get Alcohol 120%. Grab the Trial version and see if it'll let you make an MD5 image of an Origional CD. Short of that, try borrowing a Drive from a friends PC perhaps? Let us know how you get on Cheers Chill. 258026	2004-08-04 04:02:00	if you already have a virtual drive installed, that could be your problem, a lot of new games (including doom 3) will keep coming up with the insert disk 1 error if it detects there is a virtual drive on the computer, just uninstall your virtual drive and it shoudl all work fine	lagbort (5041)
258027	2004-08-04 04:13:00	If its a new system as you say then get the company who provided it to rectify it. If you bought it from out of town then thems the breaks for not shopping local. Anyhow,i would say its a crapola cd drive,some spit the dummy when trying to run copy protected cd's.	metla (154)

258029	2004-08-04 04:32:00	hmm thats weird, what virtual drive software are you using?, everywhere ive been on the internet everyone has been saying how they have had to either a) unistall their virtual drives or b) run doom 3 from an image	lagbort (5041)
258030	2004-08-04 07:53:00	HI I have just purchased a new PC and also get the "insert disc 1" when it is already in it when trying to install a new game. I have read all the answers here but what is a "virtual drive"? I looked it up on the Net and may have installed it with the "Free" cds that came with it. How do I find it and disable it? 258032	2004-08-04 08:31:00	I find the whole story very suspicious. If only I was a intellectual property specialist, I'll be investigating this further. Why did you have a pirated software? How did you get access to it? What made you want access to one, and so forth... Either ways, I say take the system back to the shops where you got it from. DO NOT mention that you have non-pirate software that works, just say you suspect there is a problem reading copy-protected CD-Roms. Is it just me or what? 258033	2004-08-04 08:35:00	I should point out here I have not tried any pirated software, I cannot play Legal Games without the "please insert disc 1" when it is already there. I was supporting the original poster in the Legal game side of it.	nalla (1386)
