257924 2004-08-03 12:24:00 I have just installed Mozilla T'Bird and have had a bit of fun setting it up on XP. I notice now that I have it running that it is not listed as being compatible with XP. However, I like it and if I can overcome the problem below it will probably stay.
I am used to OE disconnecting after sending and receiving and I can't find anything in T'Bird which enables this feature. As I am using Dial-up I see it as kind of necessary.
Anyone?

Firstly, relying on automatic disconnections is a bad habit. Regardless of a program that 'does it for you' you should be manually checking it, or disconnecting yourself. Reliance on these things can lead to ugly bills.

TBird won't support that feature natively as it's not hooks embedded in the OS like Outhouse Express. Your best bet would be to enable the 'disconnect when no longer needed' option which is generally found in IE under Tools --> Internet Options --> Connection --> Advanced (memory here). Though it's not always reliable.

257926 2004-08-03 22:52:00 cheers, thanks for that. I guess I just used the feature to end IE sessions by checking my email at the end as a way of closing. I share a phoneline with the internet and am generally aware of whether the line is still being used by the computer. theother1 (3573)
