| 257804 | 2004-08-03 03:12:00 | Have a hard drive which data has been damaged and is unreadable I need to have a list of computer companies able to solve my problem My hard drive was formatted to windows 98. It was moved to a new computer but the power was cut off in the middle of load up. The problem was solved by adding windows XP . Then the files were copied onto a new hard drive. but not the original Outlook Express. Now the original hard drive has become impossible to read and the large amount of data on the original Outlook Express 98 has ben lost. Various software repair has been attempted without success. Local computer experts have been unable to recover the data. |

| 257805 | 2004-08-03 03:34:00 | You can try Computer Forensics Ltd (www.datarecovery.co.nz) in Auckland, but it will cost you a small fortune. Also because you have tried to recover using software packages they won't be able to guarantee they can get any useable data for you. | Sb0h (3744) | ||
| 257806 | 2004-08-03 04:44:00 | Hello Ingle, When you say that your hard drive has become impossible to read, do you mean that the drive is no longer recognised by the computer bios or just that the files are no longer accessible to you ?? If the drive can still be read by the bios and identified correctly and the data has not been overwritten by the loading of XP etc, it should be recoverable. Do you know what software was used in the attempts to recover your data ?? I reside in Kawerau, and as long as the above provisions apply (can be read and not overwritten) I would be happy to have a look and see if I can recover the data for you (this would be on a no recover no cost basis) if you are interested you can contact me at alcomco@hotpop.com and I would happily discuss details with you. Regards AC |
