Well she aint slow on my P4 3.2Ghz GForce 5900 Ultra with 256MB and 1GB mem running on a RAID0 partition with 2 segate 120GB 7200 SATA drives.
I have the graphics turned up full and don't see any hint of lag anywhere while playing. There is a small delay when it loads the next level in but then thats normal for most games these days.

257974 2004-08-06 20:31:00 Damn it, after reading this thread now I'm going to have to go out and get the game. New THX 5.1 speakers arriving today....would be rude not to try them out with Doom3 (at least that's what I'll tell the missus). ;-) Sb0h (3744)
257975 2004-08-13 10:40:00 Got hold of the D3 yesterday...

But it doesn't run nicely on my mx440... I'm gonna upgrade at the end of the year when the AGP cards come down in price and I actually have a job.

The rest of my setup is:
AMD 2600XP
512MB DDR333 ram
120GB IDE(:-() WD drive
VIA KT600/VT8237 chipsets

TO make matters worse my mx440 is a 4x card... :'(

BTW... anyone know where you can buy adult nappies? My mums getting tired of washing all my pants... and I do play this game like, twice a day...

How the hell did you run DOOM3 on high detail with that graphics card? You dont even have enough system RAM to run on high detail let alone a good enough video card.

Agreed.
I'm using a very similar card: 64mb radeon 9000pro and anything more than 640x480, low quality is painful. The extra video ram & faster AGP (a 9200 is just a 9000 with AGP 8x) will help a bit but not much.

Anyway, my only grumble so far is aside from the graphics the rest of the game is not exactly origional. The monsters don't seem to be any smarter than the origional and the intro/plot is an awful lot like half-life.
Still, its been bloody good fun so far.

257981 2004-08-14 06:13:00 The start of the game seems very similar to Half-Life, i know Half-Life probably stole it from the original Doom, but the original Doom didnt exactly have a detailed storyline.

The graphics are a bit of a let down aswell, JC seems to have spent all his time working on fancy physics and lighting engines and forgotten to spend time on the texture files. In my opinion older games such as UT2k4 seem to be just as pretty due to their use of texture files with more detailed. One good thing seems to be that you can get away with low levels of AA or none at all, freeing up system resources for other areas of the game.

DOOM3 was a big dissapointment, but i did expect that. You cant really make a sequel to the fore father of FPS when the current market is bloated full of clones and utter cr@p. It'll be interesting to see what game developers can come up with using the DOOM engine.
