He has stated that you probably cannot load software onto the Uni computers, and any file splitter software will certainly need to be loaded to run.

258071 2004-08-04 11:45:00 Hi gf. Scouse, you may have missed the point? True. Not the first time and probably not the last. Scouse (83)
258072 2004-08-04 12:25:00 You don't mention what program you are doing your assignment in as there could be a way of reducing the size from it eg saving it in portions to be rejoined later. mikebartnz (21)
258073 2004-08-05 01:57:00 Ask the help/systems people at the university. It is a problem with the system. You have a legitimate task to perform which you can't do. They will find a way. They won't know it's a problem unless you tell them.

You will find that the staff are not there to stop you doing your work. The security restrictions are there to ensure that you can do your work, despite the nasty idiots who think damaging systems is fun.

258074 2004-08-05 02:58:00 Hi again michael. Sorry about the earlier bum steer for file splitter. If your exercise is a word document, can you create it in to a Master and sub documents, when the sub documents can later be reassembled in the Master? Just thin ing out loud here!!! My eyboard has just lost its letter " " -= the one before L. Scouse (83)
258075 2004-08-05 06:36:00 I'm using photoshop, the file is a .psd and I would like to keep as a .psd so I have the layers etc for me to work on at home.

Compressing it into jpeg would not help, since the images must be industry standard (no imperfections) so if I compress I will loose alot of information.
Compress=bad quality+small file size

I think floppy disk would take to long for me to put 20MB of data onto my computer besides I will be updating the file regularly, both at home and at university. If only I got enough floppy drives then I could RAID them. hehe ]:)

I'll check with the help/systems people tomorrow. Right now it looks like usb pen drive or mp3 player is the best option, just got to make sure it will work though.

Thanks alot
