258021 2004-08-03 19:23:00 This is weird - I turned on the PC then went to get dressed for work.

On my way back the PC was booting-up, and when it finished there was a message saying new updates and been installed on my PC.

How can new updates been downloaded and installed when my internet connection wasn't on?

There's no automatic dialer set-up. in fact I wouldn't know how if I wanted to!

What just happened here?

Thanks
Tim

258022 2004-08-03 20:15:00 It's quite possible the updates were downloaded the last time you were connected to the internet. You may have shut down you're PC before the updates were installed or possibly they required a restart before being fully installed.

Most critical updates for Windows XP require a system restart.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If it does bother you then you can change you windows update settings to...

Download the updates automatically and notify me when they are ready to be installed.

Windows Update settings can be accessed in the Control Panel via SYSTEM--->Automatic Updates.

Hope that helps

cheers
