2004-08-02 23:26:00 I added a PCI Network card to my system last night. XP reported that I had made considerable changes to my system and had to reactivate Windows!

Is a minor change considered plugging in a USB device, or maybe even putting a CD in the tray? I hate to think what would happen if I changed the hard drive or something - XP would have a meltdown lol.

2004-08-02 23:49:00 The NIC does tend to have a higher ranking, but I have changed HDD, RAM, added PCI cards (not NIC's) and never needed to reactivate. godfather (25)
2004-08-03 01:17:00 LOL mine did that 'reactivate' thing when I one time added a slave hdd ...... drcspy (146)
2004-08-03 01:20:00 if i remeber correctly NIC's are the highest rated. however i have added and removed various NIC's from XP pc's without ever needing activation. winblows for ya. tweak'e (174)
