258565 2004-08-05 09:33:00 Hi,
Just got mandrake 10.0 from dse today, installed it all went well except for sound not working..different problem.

I need to get online so I can sort this sound problem and a few other driver issues, but I cannot get my speedtouch modem to work.

If you go to the control panel it does not have a option for NZ but i know that finland uses the same settings so I tried to use that no luck

looked at
pressf1.pcworld.co.nz
and
www.linux-usb.org

but could not get it going..apears that when I build it will not work, errors with source

I am new to linux but know computers very well, could someone please give me instructions on how they got theirs going, I am about to try
www.webconexion.net

then I may give up on it for the night

my system is
Dual boot windows xp home, mandrake 10.0 kde 3.2
256mb ram
80gb hard 20 to linux
128mb ddr graphics
gigabyte nforce2 motherboard
cd writer

thanks
Brad

258569 2004-08-07 00:06:00 Okay reinstalled mandrake put on speedtouchconf.sh and run it set up right the firmware loaded with the modem flashing then telling me it couldn't get a connection, restarted computer kde crashed when loading preperiariels (spelling) so restarted again now won't load gets to 85% and hangs at restoring session Brad H (738)
258570 2004-08-09 07:03:00 Reformatted and tryed again, using the mandrake drivers and changing the vci vpi numbers, can now get the modem to load the firmware and flash its lights but still cannot get a connection, how, in detail has anyone else managed to get this modem working in new zealand on jetstream Brad H (738)
258571 2004-08-11 11:09:00 My best advice to you is to buy a router. I had the same problem, I did have it working but it was a pain having it connect at boot time. Otherwise you had to start it from the command line. It's so much easier with a router.
