| 258179 | 2004-08-04 18:10:00 | Why do the FAQs NEVER LOAD? Time and time again I dutifully, stupidly, check there first. NOT ONE has ever opened. | leonie (5511) | ||

| 258182 | 2004-08-04 22:33:00 | I'm going to try and solve the FAQ problem by having them converted to static HTML pages. The probelm now is the older a thread gets, i.e the deeper in the DB it gets, the slower it gets. This isn't an issue for most threads, because the ones people look at are "fresh", but obviously its a problem for FAQs. I've got to get it set up first, but once I've got the framework in place grapping the HTML for each FAQ shouldn't be a problem. From there, any new FAqs can be creted in a thread as usual and once they're are ready to become an FAQ - i.e., everyone has had their say -- they can be converted to a static page. |

| 258183 | 2004-08-04 23:33:00 | Hi Bruce I understand the explanation, and like the proposal to make them easier to access, but that doesn't explain why they are accessible at normal speed if you use one of the work-arounds mentioned in various posts on the subject. They still have to find the post wherever it is buried in the database, and it is only the FAQ link that is slow. Any ideas out there? Cheers Billy 8-{) |
