258995 2004-08-06 23:57:00 I presume you will be able to pick and choose what you want to update (as per previous Windows Updates)

I agree with Metla.

I think you will find it's an all or nothing installation. I had a look at RC2 and I won't be installing SP2 on this machine any time soon.

Ominious because of the size or the sheer number of fixes?

A lot are related to wireless networking, not exactly around a few years back.

Ominious could also relate to the new raft of problems that this SP may cause, roll on waiting another 3 years for service pack 3 :p

258999 2004-08-07 01:57:00 Don't know much about WindowsXP SP1 except that mine works well, although my Toshiba Notebook does everynow and again get a touchpad error, but I just click on the TCM and Utilities setup keys, run them, and everything goes okay again. Don't know why it happens, just that there is a simple cure.

The best hotfix I got was d/loading Firefox as my browser.

One that did make sense to me was the following, which I hope can be downloaded separately from the rest:

843617 You cannot adjust your portable computer's LCD display contrast or backlight controls in Windows XP Video
