258853 2004-08-06 10:56:00 I plan on getting the flat rate 256K plan from jetstream. My question is, would this speed be enough to effectively stream a small resolution webcam session through MSN messenger?

I know a full-duplex audio conversation wouldn't be a problem, but am I pushing the boundaries with a webcam at this speed?

And what about gaming.. do most games ping well with this connection also?

Cheers.

258854 2004-08-06 11:31:00 I, myself, am a regular user over internet conferencing over MSN. I use both audio and video at the same time. Audio usually goes without problems, but a highly resolution webcam will occasionally freeze for a few seconds. It does not happen a lot, but just enough to annoy you!

Just make sure you don't have a network of computer sharing your network when you do this though. I have found that they can almost 'destroy" connections. :D

258855 2004-08-06 13:02:00 Hi Jerry , 256 K is fine for a 1 on 1 audio/video chat via msn from NZ to Aussie and the UK in my experience - sure it'll freeze on occasions but it's still well do- able :)

>>>There have been problems reported here regarding webcams with MSN. Not sure if the latest version is better or not but in the past the solution was to use Yahoo instead of MSN.>

I know stuff all about it (but intend to learn) but anything Susan B says is well worth keeping in mind.

258857 2004-08-07 00:12:00 well a mate had problems with msn with his camera. no matter what settings you used it was always glitchy. he went to eyeball which works sweet as even on a good dailup connection. tweak'e (174)
