258649 2004-08-05 21:54:00 I am putting my motherboard in a Pioneer Rack unit. Just wondering if I can use the foam stuff that comes with the motherboard to lay on or is there a better alternative. It HAS to be close to the bottom coz if it isn't my CD drive wont fit in.

Cheers

258650 2004-08-05 22:16:00 You can get little plastic spacers that clip in the screw holes, not sure about laying it on the foam Rob99 (151)
258651 2004-08-05 22:18:00 Have you got any of the little standoff pillars, either metal or plastic? The usual sized one hold the board about 5 or 6mm off the base, you could modify them I suppose but you still want a bit of airflow under the board. I wouldn't be having bits of foam under is especially in a comfined space where things might get a bit warm then sticky.

258652 2004-08-05 22:40:00 not recommended to lay the mobo on plastic sheet. not only do you risk the bits of wire etc poking through the foam but also any moisture and dust might cause problems. recommend to sit it on the standard spacers, even if it means trimming them down a bit in size.

whay not just copy a standard rack (www.procase.co.nz)
