258981 2004-08-07 04:00:00 Metla and all the other guys

While we were talking, a friend showed up (a techie working a the local comp shop). She quickly rebooted (don't ask me how), restored to a previous point and Bob's your uncle. So I'm back to square one (where I was yesterday) and there it can stay for all I care, I love my lowly status too much and as I said, the sight of blood frightens me.

If the wife wants anything changed now she can ask you guys herself - and I was so brave I told her that, too. Yeah, OK, so I had to patch up meself with a few plasters to stop the blood, but at least the message got through.

Thanks everybody - I hope you will never hear from me again regarding this subject (at least).

258982 2004-08-07 04:14:00 Hey dont be so hard on your self, and im speaking from great experience of beetle status stuff ups...... and most people know about mine to, but i learnt and i am still here to tell the tales, and get great help from these people.

we all have to learn somewhere, sometime, and it is a major boost that you already are part of pf1 and new you would get help here.

we are here to help, you may find out that what you have learnt now may help someone in the future.

some of us may have learnt from your er, slight problem, so thats a good thing.

hope to see you about plenty, even if its not with a problem, just as a general poster.

but am glad its all sorted, that er .......slight problem was beyond my capabilities,

smile, its sorted, not how you first thought, but you live another day.

hope the weekend gets better,

Nuh i dont think so, (re Metla, Susan, and others) i think theyre happy to help, we are not all born geeks....

and IMO they wouldnt be here if they and others were not williing and able to help people on here. they must have started out similar to us at some stage.

and yeah ya just gotta wait for the next beetle stuff up instalment...... been a bit lax lately....... either that means im getting better or my machines are getting more bomb proof?
( or beetle proof?)

:D

Glad to see it hasnt put you off though.

258985 2004-08-07 05:14:00 Sarel where are you at, at the mo? Back to logon ok, sans homepage and missing square on desktop or back to square one when you first enquired of the desktop settings .

If the latter, reapply the fix to the desktop a la: Ok, right click the desktop >
Active Desktop > and uncheck "My Current Home Page" or whatever the
wording is in XP (I use win 2k) then leave it at that, for now ;\

As for asking dumbarse questions and pestering people, there's nothing so dumb as a question not asked and a pester not attempted . Personally I don't find much about computers intuitive ot particularly easy, my tendency is to bludgeon my way through issues with lots of (online) research and persistence but, have also had my backside pulled out of the fire by the good folk on PF1 plenty of times . Besides, some of the people that frequent this site are obviously masochists and need to be pestered in the meanest and most persistent way possible, think of it as a service you can provide to them ;) You don't come across as backward so don't give it a second thought .

Cheers Murray ;P
