258631 2004-08-06 00:44:00 He is referring to an online virus scanner.

Going back to what i was saying.

Disable everything under startup and reboot,if its still there then re-enable all the stuff you want running.

If its gone then start re-enabling them one at a time until it reapears.

If its still there after disabling everything then create a new account and see if it apears.

If it does then....Actually,just try what i suggested and we can go from there.

258633 2004-08-06 01:15:00 Right. New acc't - no square - I just got the normal windows blue screen with no background, etc and no square

258634 2004-08-06 01:57:00 Have you got active desktop enabled? Pete O'Neil (250)
258635 2004-08-06 03:34:00 Sorry for asking - where do you see that

258636 2004-08-06 03:50:00 I saw this once .... it turned out to be something to do with the desktop background selection. Would suggest you right click on the desktop, select properties and see what is selected. If you select "None", does this fix it? Cptn Hotshot (3904)

Also set the desktop to none, see if it is still there.

Or if the new account works maybe the easier thing is to shift all the documents over there and delete the orgional account. This may also solve the other problem you are having.

258638 2004-08-06 06:10:00 Nope - that was the first thing I tried. On the blue screen (default) it is also there

But the original acc't is the administrtator acc't - you can't have two of them?

258640 2004-08-06 06:27:00 O sheez Rob99 I did what your screenshot suggested and now I sit with a Yahoo screen as background (the page that usually opens when you go into IE) and although I can shift this page, I can't get rid of it. B*gger. When I shift this page around, there's no square but then I can't move it too far to the right to see

So, two problems now - square, and the Yahoo page
