258871 2004-08-06 04:24:00 We have installed a number of these rural modems for our distric managers and regional officers, who have been having problems due to location.

The modems have worked for us every time. So I would recommend you get one.

258873 2004-08-06 06:07:00 finally some one that is on the same wave length as me :P
i live in the middle of now where and those electirc fences are soo annoying, anyway, i had an internal modem and it was fine for about 2 months and then disconnected on me every 10 min, so we got the line fixed(put a filter in) and it worked a bit better but still not good, so i got a external modem and i havent touched the settings yet and its brilliant, but i do seem to connect at 31.2 and its fast but when i connect at 45.2 or 44.0 it does nothing :(
my advice is get a external modem(those dynalink rural and way too expensive)

258874 2004-08-07 04:50:00 Yes I think you are right metla. 99% of population not area. The project probe rollout from Telecom also has assistance from Fonterra for their diary farmers. From my understanding Fonterra wish to have all their suppliers on broadband by the end of 2005. This has helped in my area as when the local school got broadband so did the whole area, a much bigger area than just around the school. Hence I now have Jetstream.
The satilite I was refering to was a 2 way product that will be supplied by Telecom, when it is ready!!

258875 2004-08-11 02:14:00 The U90E modem is expensive but well worth it. I have had similar stories as yourselves, used internal and external but not getting the speed or reliable connection. The u90e is not used as a speed booster but my customers don't get disconnected, nor do they get anything under 40. hoopzta (150)
