259442 2004-08-08 07:02:00 hi all,

Does anyone know of any DVD players available which allow macrovision to be disabled (without voiding the warranty)?

A friend would like to get a DVD player but their TV doesn't have AV inputs so it needs to go through the VCR.

We tried a DSE mustek but the newer ones no longer let you disable it.

259444 2004-08-08 08:55:00 Warehouse DVD's were from the same (or similar) stable as Mustek, have you checked if they still have the ability? godfather (25)

Yes, there is... the dvd player I got doesn't have macro vision. I didn't disabled it, it was like that when I got it. :)

I even know some dvd players that can play Divx mpeg4 as well.

259446 2004-08-09 00:04:00 my older Hiteker dvd player from china does this but its probably easier to get a new tv kiwibeat (304)
259447 2004-08-09 00:14:00 There is a program (not for external DVD players), BUT for internal DVD players for your PC, which kills macrovision and also plays any region DVD around. No firmware hack required or little program running in the background to disable it. It's not free, but it DOES play ZONE 1 DVD's as soon as you chuck it in the DVD. They say its the world's 1st region free and macrovision free DVD player around. Spacemannz (808)
259448 2004-08-09 00:29:00 DVD Region-Free from dvdidle.com :-) Chilling_Silence (9)
259449 2004-08-09 00:37:00 Nope not what I was thinking this is a standalone program nothing else needed. No programs, no firmware hack. Just the 1 DVD program. Similar to PowerDVD's interface BUT plays any DVD any region you chuck in it. Spacemannz (808)
259450 2004-08-09 00:45:00 IIRC its called DVD X Player or something similar

It does the same job as DVD Region-Free + Power DVD, just its an "all-in-one" bundle ;-)

259451 2004-08-09 00:48:00 Thats it :) It's pretty good too. Does a good job. Only thing it doesn't seem to do is play fullscreen (the whole screen) like PowerDVD.

It plays as the DVD was meant to play.
