259411 2004-08-08 04:55:00 I am using Firefox to replace IE, mainly because of the tab option.
I have a problem that when I type a web address in START/RUN a Dialog Box appears with this message, and then the website loads correctly.

"Windows cannot find 'http://pcworld.co nz' (for instance) .
Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for
a file, Click the Start button, and then click Search."

How can I get rid of this dialog box?

I take it you mean the address bar, how often does this happen, it sounds as the modem is not completly online when you hit enter

259414 2004-08-08 10:50:00 A fix suggested by Luke Hutteman and modified a little is:-
Control Panel/Folder Options/File Types
Select Extension: (NONE) URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol
Click Advanced
In the Edit File Type window, select open and click Edit
Clear the DDE message box (Contained something like "%1",,_1,0,,,)
Click Ok. Click OK
Repeat for URL: HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy

This worked for me.

259415 2004-08-10 06:55:00 If you changed to Firefox just because of the tab option have a look at MYIE2. I use it all the time. It has got some great functions.

They have now changed it's name to Maxthon but it is still in the Beta stage and not as good at the moment as the original MYIE2.
