259389 2004-08-08 04:17:00 Hey guys. I need some serious help with this one.

This (us.f2.yahoofs.com) is the modem/router I have. I have followed all the instructions to the "T" but I still cannot connect the PPP account for jetstream.

Does anyone out there have a similar modem... how did you get it to work.

I have it connected to my switch and my LAN works fine... just can't get it to connect to my jetstream account.

cheers

259390 2004-08-08 05:06:00 There is a problem with the link you gave, Firefox spits it out, IE gives page cannot be displayed :) Terry Porritt (14)
259391 2004-08-08 05:08:00 Ditto.

Are they NZ specific instructions?

259392 2004-08-08 05:10:00 Oh, and don't we use PPPoA?

Have you got the right line operating mode?

259393 2004-08-08 05:17:00 Sorry guys, here's the link. I've put it on the salneoburn site and will remove it again (if i can)

modem (sal.neoburn.net)

The modem came with instructions for NZ... it even mentions Xtra.

I'm using Quicksilver as my ISP.... Not sure bout that PPPoA, in the instructions it talks about PPP vMUX or something like that.

259394 2004-08-08 05:35:00 Are you using ethernet or USB to connect to your PC? Can you post your WAN Configuration, setup ATM PVC, what the manual says or a screen shot?

259395 2004-08-08 05:53:00 Going to basics, check that you do have the correct password entered in the router setup. When I first set up my Dynalink router coming from dialup, there was a bit of head scratching until I found out the password was now 'username@isp.net.nz' rather than just 'username' that I had been using for dialup. 259396 2004-08-08 06:00:00 Sorry can't give screen shots....

The PPP settings are... PPPoA VC-MUX

Basically that's all that it says...

that is the default setting and all i have to do according to the manual is fill in my username and password for Jetstream.

I save the settings and restart the modem.
Once restarted I click on connect but it always times out and says "connection error"

There's nothing wrong with my line or anything as I am able to connect using a Nokia M1122 modem.

Any other ideas.... or what else do you need ...info wise I mean.

cheers

259397 2004-08-08 06:20:00 Does your username have anything added by the ISP for DSL?

Like for XTRA, you have to add .xadsl to the end of your normal username.
Growly (6)
259398 2004-08-08 06:32:00 No there's no dsl or anything like that in the username.

all it is...
username@jetstart.quicksilver.net.nz
password

works fine with the Nokia modem?

I'm using ethernet... don't really want to use the USB connection but if I can't make any headway with the ethernet connection then I guess I will have to try the USB method.
