Hi How can it be that my modem properties dialogue box is showing 41.2 kbps, nothing else is running, but my virus update dialogue box is showing 3.5 kbps? |

Its probably caused by a busy server at the anti virus end of the connection. You could try disconnecting and retrying later. |

The modem reports kilobits per second (kb/s) while the download is reported as kiloBytes per seond (kB/s) perhaps?
41.2 kbps = 5.15 kBps (8 bits to a byte), but with error correction overheads will be a little lower than this. |

are you sure your not looking at logon speed ?? (eg the speed inticated by the connection icon) logo speed and download speed are 2 different things. |
