259347 2004-08-08 02:58:00 OK guys and gals I’m in the poooh again!

This time it’s a delinquent modem I just can’t find a driver for. I’ve googled myself silly and whilst I’ve downloaded no less than seven drivers none work. One looked promising but the couldn’t open the port (comm. 3) (If I’d had a bottle of port I know I would have opened it!)

Anyway here are the details if anyone can help.

Operating system Win98se

Modem: Aztech MDP38586P-A Telepermit 211/98/069

The Telepermit suggests it’s a MDP3858 internal fax modem using v.34/56k flex technology.

The Chip is Rockwell RLVDL56DPF/SP
R6785-61

The New Zealand license is held by Packard Bell and it was out of one of their computers.

Now I’m picking there are hundreds of these around but where does one find a driver?

Cheers

Bob

259349 2004-08-08 03:25:00 I assume you've been through all the cruft that came with the computer? whiskeytangofoxtrot (438)
259350 2004-08-08 03:27:00 No Graham, for some reason it doesn't have one?

Odd isn't it?

259351 2004-08-08 03:39:00 Modem Help, Aztech (www.modem-help.com). Appears to be a Conexant/Rockwell chip not USR but check down the list, I may have muffed the search.

259353 2004-08-08 03:52:00 The Packard Bell site in Europe has some drivers which may work. Try here:-

259354 2004-08-08 04:13:00 I presume you have tried DriverGuide.com - I just had a look, and they have them. Login is drivers all allthough they are changing this. I went thru a long winded procedure to re enlist, including a long d/l of driver guide toolkit - haven't figured it out yet. Probally just me.

259355 2004-08-08 04:25:00 The computer came bare-bones Whiskey, no disks no manuals.

Ahhh yes Murray, I think I too might blame last night for being unable to find a simple wee driver.

Actually had been there Elephant but couldn’t find what I wanted. Also went to the Aztech site only to be told they no longer supported that model modem. They had the cheek to blame the chip manufactures.

Hmmmmm.

259356 2004-08-08 04:28:00 Yes Peter, the seven I've downloaded have all come from Driverguide, some in a round about way. Unfortunately, none work. :( B.M. (505)
