I let my subscription for an update of Norton Anti virus lapse, while it was lapsed I downloaded something that is now giving me grief! it keeps setting my homepage to something I don't want (about blank), when I go into programs to try to reset this, it will let me set a new home page, but as soon as I close and re open my internet, it is set on (about blank again). It wont let me open some web pages, it jumps back to my unwanted home page. (I am emailing this question from a friends PC, as I am unable to access this homepage from my PC, For the reason explained above).
When logging on to the internet and my home page opens, above my start button, I can see Java script, and applets opening.
I have run an updated version of Norton Anti Virus, I have run spybot, Adaware, no luck.
Please help, how do I get rid of this.

Try one of these

209.133.47.12

or this

209.133.47.12

Download one or both and copy them to floppy and try them on your pc at home.

259307 2004-08-08 00:34:00 You will probably require another couple of programs. First Ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) which will clean out your temp and cache files in case it is residing in there. Next run CWShredder (http:) using the clean button. Then about buster (www.majorgeeks.com) NOTE the instructions!
If this arsenel fails, there is Hijackthis (www.spywareinfo.com) which you can reset your homepages and also produce a log, which you can post here and be told what to remove.

259308 2004-08-08 01:47:00 look at my two forums. Sounds like you may have what I have got. Try a seach for a file on your hard drive for file 'hxdef*' lpaint (5949)
259309 2004-08-08 06:13:00 I had a similar problem, good advice on CWshredder, it worked on the first accasion, second time similar symptoms, it was a trojan that Norton didn't deal with, I was advised to use "Stinger" worked like a charm. j.w.knowles (3251)
