| 259585 | 2004-08-08 10:47:00 | Hey guys... Got my dad some new hardware... I got him an AMD XP2400 and I see in the BIOS it only has 256kb cache.... Is it sposed to be that small. My XP2600 has got a 512k... The motherboard is a ASUS A7VL-VM. Also he is complaining that it is running slow yet won't believe me when I say he needs a 300W psu to replace his old 250W.... I'm right aren't I.... |

| 259587 | 2004-08-08 11:01:00 | I think it had to do with the motherboard. As it has a VIA KM133 chipset. I found out on this page: Asus A7VL-VM (www.dansdata.com) Maybe upgrading the mobo and the psu will speed things up.... |

Its only serious limitation is that it only supports 100MHz FSB CPUs. You can use 133MHz RAM, and you can goose the FSB up to 110MHz if you want, but if you just drop an Athlon made for a 133MHz FSB into the A7VL-VM, it'll run at three-quarter speed. Thats what i call one hell of a serious limitation. |
