260081 2004-08-10 01:14:00 Just seen Browser Express (msdn.microsoft.com) on msdn - It looks familiar......

...Oddly enough the features they tout are the same features Ive been using with Firefox since is was 0.4 (Phoenix).

Tabbed browsing? Old news....

Re-designing your Interface? Cant everybody?

Apparently the application Visual Studio Express will be free though :-)

Chill.

260082 2004-08-10 01:22:00 Would it not be smart if they did? Haven't looked too closely at it, but does it still use IE as its basis?

260083 2004-08-10 01:48:00 Interesting Chill. I was a Mac user from 1986 till about 96. I am quite sure I remember IE for the Mac had tabbed browsing with the tabs down the left hand margin.

It always seemed to me that in those years Microsoft made better products for the Mac than it did for its own operating system. Until they came out with one appalling iteration of Word - was it Word 6?

260084 2004-08-10 06:02:00 I've downloaded it, but don't know how to use the freaking thing! Megaman (344)
260085 2004-08-10 07:07:00 Would'nt be surpised if MS just purchased one of the many alt replacement front ends for IE and are marketing it a product they've created. Would'nt be the first time and it will not be the last. mark.p (383)
260086 2004-08-10 08:00:00 Might be a cool thing to use for customising the web browser for say an internet Cafe, but other than that they are just copying everyone else's ideas. Par for the course with Microsoft.

Shouldn't the makers of browsers if they come up with a revolutionary idea, patent it?

260087 2004-08-10 08:08:00 We use MozillaFirefox where I work, and MozillaFirefox alone.

The icon is Internet Explorer's, and the desktop Icon has been renamed to suit and our customers are non-the-wiser :-)

Some clever cookies notice and ask us where they can get a copy for home because they notice there are no popups, but mostly people dont notice....

...so why use IE? Google for "Internet Explorer Deemed" and hit "Im Feeling Lucky" ;-)
The eWeek article at the bottom of that page is worth a read too :-)

260088 2004-08-10 08:18:00 Software should not be patented. Do you patent books, technical manuals, mathematial functions or calculations, music, sculpture and other artwork. ;)

What is the difference between patent and copyright?

There is copyright on most of the above .
