260060 2004-08-10 22:46:00 Thanks Tweak'e

Removed previous Ad-Aware so as to install the latest one - SE Personal.
Downloaded it from MajorGeeks

Installed, ran it, and guess what?

A Trojan horse dropper.small.4.ag was picked up straight away, and was in System Restore. Did the usual and got rid of it.

But daily I run Ad-aware, Spybot, AVG and had become very smug about not being invaded. Boy did I get a wakeup call!!

Hope everyone else has upgraded to this new version.

Thanks again, Marg.

260062 2004-08-11 05:32:00 I think it is still giving the same version 1.01 not 1.02 is anyone else finding this? zqwerty (97)
260063 2004-08-11 05:40:00 I've been downloading 1.02 from Download.com today , despite the fact the Ad Aware site still mentions 1.01 - when I went to update 1.01's definitions today the updater recommended 1.02 ... and installing 1.02 deletes 1.01 ... ?:| KatiMike (242)
260064 2004-08-11 06:06:00 One difference I have found between 1.01 and 1.02 is in the scanning of the Hosts file.
With 1.01 I had a number of entries thrown up even though those sites were blocked and I had to put them into the ignore list.

With 1.02, blocked sites in the Hosts file were all ignored.

Both versions however still decide that the IE browser 'about:blank' entry in the registry is a possible browser hijack, and that still has to be put into ignore.
